High-performance materials and superalloys

Vimi Fasteners is specialized in the production of high-performance mechanical fasteners. In particular, the company's skills are focused to develop critical fasteners, engineered for customer needs utilizing high performance steels and superalloys.

The most used materials are:

• carbon and low alloy steels
• stainless steels: austenitic and martensitic
• high alloy steels,  nickel/cobalt base alloys
• titanium

Titanium

Titanium is a metal which, in addition to standing out for its advantageous strength/mass ratio, offers high resistance to corrosion and attacks by external agents and lightness.  It is used in the aerospace, aeronautical and high end automotive sectors.

Nickel alloys

Alloys containing substantial amounts of nickel (18%-75%), are precipitation hardened, forming a distinct class of superalloys. They have outstanding  mechanical properties at high temperatures with excellent resistance to corrosion. They are used in gas turbines, turbochargers, exhaust systems and Oil & Gas.

Stainless steel and PH

Stainless steels are characterized by greater resistance to oxidation and corrosion compared to so-called carbon steels. This ability is mainly due to the presence of chromium in the alloy which is capable of passivating, i.e. covering itself with a thin, adherent layer of protective oxide.
PH (Precipitatin Hardening stainless steel) are a family of stainless steels whose peculiarity is that they can be heat treated to combine high mechanical resistance and corrosion. Typical fields of application of the PH stainless steels are Oil & Gas, chemical and nuclear plants, aerospace components.

Carbon steel

The carbon steels used to make fasteners can be low, medium or high alloy depending on the mechanical characteristics required by the customer specifications which can be obtained with heat treatment to reach resistance grade 8.8, 10.9 , 12.9 and above.
